The baby whale next to her is her fetus, which was dissected from her abdomen during the specimen preparation. The whale is a kind of mammal, although it lives in the ocean, it is still viviparous like other mammals and the baby whale also feeds on breast milk. I believe that it’s hard for you to imagine how a whale suckles in water. They don’t feed by actively sucking, they feed by the mother whales to spray the milk into the water, isn’t it special. Instead of having protruding curves on their breasts like those of other mammals such as humans, female whales have a pair of nipples hidden in a skin groove. Only during lactation, the long and thin nipple will reach out from the groove, at this moment, the baby whale will twine its tongue around the nipple and keep it in its mouth.
